Light the Night - Team Zach

Last month I was proud to participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night walking event in honor of my cousin, Zach.  Zach has been battling Lymphoma since he received his diagnosis, shortly after his high school graduation this past spring.

The event had a great turn out - including a few famous faces.  David Keith walked in support of a friend.

Zach, far too young to remember An Officer and a Gentleman, misunderstood who he was meeting and asked Mr. Keith to say "Touchdown Titans."

"Um, yeah, that's not me..."  Apparently Zach and his buddy thought they were meeting Tennessee Titans announcer Mike Keith.

Local UT celebrities were also in attendance - including Men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin (pictured with Zach above) and football announcer Bob Kesling.  Both men are lymphoma survivors.

Towards the end of the 1.5 mile walk, we were treated to a fireworks display.  Yes, that's the back of my head in the bottom right corner of the above photo.  Yes, my hair is getting long and scraggly.  I'm trying to grow it out so I can donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign - they make wigs for cancer patients - in honor of Zach.

For all of those who have supported my family along the way, both in prayers and financial contributions, please accept our thanks.  No one fights alone, and with your help Zach will defeat this monster.
